The Bee-Ciders<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in the late 1990s Peter <\/strong>and Nype <\/strong>already played together in a band called “The Styrian Beerwolves<\/strong>“, named after the favourite beverage of most band members at that time and possibly the howling sound of the drummer’s backing vocals. Though focusing mostly on Country and Blues material, some of the titles by Gary Moore<\/em> and Deep Purple<\/em> in today’s Bee-Ciders’ catalogue were already found in the Beerwolves’ setlist, building the foundation of what should become the bees’ treasure chest of songs decades later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the split of the legendary wolfpack in 1999 and a two years break another influencal project was born. Nype and Eddie first met in 2001 in a group initially called “OhrWerk<\/strong>” and later renamed to “push’n’funk<\/strong>“. Writing original songs with german\/styrian lyrics through all musical genres from Rock and Folk to Reggae and Funk with a slight touch of progressive elements, push’n’funk aimed to follow in the footsteps of legendary Austro-Pop giants Ausseer Hardbradler<\/em>, yet failed to finally reach their targets due to many line-up changes. Interestingly enough, in 2011 a young female singer named Sandra Danzer <\/strong>came to audition for the lead vocals, but refused to sign the contract due to a parental leave from the stage. The push’n’funk<\/em> project came to an end in 2021 \u2013 at least for the time being, leaving the fans desperately waiting for their third album release which was announced already in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was in 2020 when Peter <\/strong>and Nype <\/strong>decided to join forces again. Relying on long lasting partnerships, Eddie <\/strong>was the natural choice on the drums. Shortly after a first setup-phase it was the moment when Sandra <\/strong>despite her engagement in various other projects took her spot center stage, opening the door to a whole universe of options thanks to her incredible singing skills. The search for a bass player turned out to be difficult but finally ended with the highly experienced rock and metal bassist Andi Pongratz<\/strong> finding his way to the hive and contributing more than only the long missed low-end. What started as a jam session finally completed the puzzle when Upper Austrian violinist and singer Verena Schwarz<\/strong> decided to be a full member of the then six-piece band, willing to accept extended car rides to join the rehearsals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the determination of the line-up the band named themselves “The Bee-Ciders<\/strong>” which mainly expresses the tendency to avoid the first go-to No. 1 hits you would expect from a cover band but instead try to spotlight the hidden gems, the forgotten jewels and the diamonds others wouldn’t dare to unearth. And even if you find prominent names on the setlist you might sometimes be surprised by the choice of the songs. When still in a conceptual stage the band was called “Piotr & The Combo” for a reason, as Peter performs in two major roles in the band. Mastering the challenge of being lead vocalist and keyboard \/ piano player at the same time cannot be valued highly enough. His warm and colorful timbre complements the female vocals and perfectly completes duets in any language spoken in the western hemisphere. And while tending to understate his own skills, Peter’s keyboard playing sets the canvas and contributes all the flavors not covered by the string instruments to finally build the full spectrum of the bees’ sonic landscapes.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Having mastered her instrument through a classical education, Verena contributes the ability to read and correctly transcribe music, which is a rare asset in the band and turned out to be extremely helpful when it comes to arranging orchestral parts for a single violin or string voices on the keys. On top of the violin playing, which is a tremendous enrichment to the overall performance of the bees, she is also a very experienced singer filling all the gaps with her incredible vocal range from soprano to contralto. As opposed to the rhythm section Verena enjoys a good glass of white wine instead of amber fluid.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Andi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spices up any bee show with his energetic live performances, sometimes leaving people in doubt whether his bass parts were really being played live \u2013 which they are of course! Originating from Carinthia he naturally loves the stage and conquers it with a smile you cannot resist. His good vibes would be able to even bring the “fun” back in a “funeral”. Always willing to set sails to new shores and constantly extending his repertoire of genres and techniques, he keeps experimenting with gear and sounds chasing the perfect bass tone to lay the foundation of the bees’ artwork. Becoming a dad was a true game changer for Andi, upgrading from an expert in aviation to a Bachelor of Diapers.<\/p>\n<\/div>

An incredibly gifted drummer benefiting from his photographical memory of beats, melodies and lyrics which he is able to weave into his rhythmic and vocal performance. Whilst originating from a grunge and metal background he developed a very exquisite style over the years influenced by and open to all genres always trying to learn from to the best of his craft, like Gavin Harrison and Mike Portnoy to name only a few. When the drum sticks are put aside, dedicating his heart and soul to any musical project he’d be part of, he sure is the emotional backbone of the band. In his spare time he also holds the position of the band’s Corporate Beer Officer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Trying to push the setlist forward in all directions, reaching out to the next crazy idea of a song to add and being a stickler for details with a touch of insanity Nype sometimes has the potential to drive his bandmates mad \u2013 which he understands as the natural obligation of a lead guitar player in any band. Being self-taught, he tries to make up for technical shortcomings though being far from the level needed to even try to mimic his idols like Steve Morse, Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci and the like. Although the left side of the stage is packed with various axes a clear preference for MusicMan guitars driving ENGL amps is undeniable.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The Bee-Ciders<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bereits in den sp\u00e4ten 1990er Jahren waren Peter <\/strong>und Nype <\/strong>gemeinsam in einer Band in Graz. \u201eThe Styrian Beerwolves<\/strong>\", ein Name, dessen Bedeutung sich auch allen drei eingefleischten Fans der Gruppierung bis zuletzt nicht erschloss, waren eine Cover-Band mit einem programmatischen Schwerpunkt im Bereich Country und Blues. Nach Nypes Einstieg war eine st\u00e4rkere Entwicklung in Richtung Rock sp\u00fcrbar und so konnte man manche Titel von Gary Moore<\/em> und Deep Purple<\/em> aus dem heutigen Bee-Ciders\u2018 Katalog bereits auf der Beerwolves Setliste finden. Diese Songs bildeten das Fundament f\u00fcr das, was sp\u00e4ter die Liedschatzkiste der Bienchen werden sollte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nach dem Ende des legend\u00e4ren Wolfsrudels 1999 und einer zweij\u00e4hrigen Pause, entstand ein weiteres wegweisendes Projekt. Nype <\/strong>und Eddie <\/strong>trafen erstmals 2001 in einer Band mit dem urspr\u00fcnglichen Namen \u201eOhrWerk<\/strong>\u201c aufeinander, die sp\u00e4ter unter dem Namen \u201epush\u2019n\u2019funk<\/strong>\u201c eine breitere \u00d6ffentlichkeit erreichte. Mit eigenen Songs aus verschiedenen Musikrichtungen - von Rock und Folk bis Reggae und Funk, mit einer Prise Progressive und deutsch \/ steirischen Texten - schickte sich push\u2019n\u2019funk<\/em> an, in die Fu\u00dfstapfen der legend\u00e4ren Austro-Pop Giganten Ausseer Hardbradler<\/em> zu treten. Unz\u00e4hlige Umbesetzungen machten das Erreichen der gesteckten Ziele allerdings unm\u00f6glich. Bemerkenswert erscheint auch die Tatsache, dass eine gewisse Sandra Danzer<\/strong> 2011 f\u00fcr die zur der Zeit vakante Leadstimme vorsang. Sie entschied sich damals allerdings aus famili\u00e4ren Gr\u00fcnden gegen das Engagement, das Schicksal hatte andere Pl\u00e4ne f\u00fcr die gemeinsame Zukunft. Das Projekt push\u2019n\u2019funk<\/em> kam im Jahr 2021 endg\u00fcltig zum Erliegen und lie\u00df die Fans mit der Erwartung des bereits 2014 angek\u00fcndigten dritten Albums entt\u00e4uscht zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Im Jahr 2020 entschieden sich Peter <\/strong>und Nype<\/strong>, ihre Kr\u00e4fte erneut zu b\u00fcndeln. Durch die langj\u00e4hrige Partnerschaft in anderen Projekten war Eddie <\/strong>die naheliegende Wahl am Schlagwerk. Kurz nach der Konstituierung betrat bereits Sandra <\/strong>das Zentrum der B\u00fchne, obwohl sie in einer Reihe anderer erfolgreicher Projekte vermeintlich genug ausgelastet gewesen w\u00e4re. Dank ihrer \u00fcberragenden Gesangsf\u00e4higkeiten \u00f6ffnete sich der noch jungen Band die T\u00fcr zu einem neuen Universum an m\u00f6glichen Songs, die zu interpretieren nun machbar schien. Die Suche nach einem Bassisten stellte sich zun\u00e4chst als schwierig heraus und endete letztlich, als der erfahrene Rock- und Metalbassist Andi Pongratz<\/strong> seinen Weg in den Bienenstock fand und mehr als nur die lange vermissten Tieffrequenzen beitrug. Was als Jam-Session begann, komplettierte schlussendlich das Puzzle, als sich die ober\u00f6sterreichische Geigerin und S\u00e4ngerin Verena Schwarz<\/strong> entschied, ein Vollmitglied der somit sechsk\u00f6pfigen Band zu werden, was ihr regelm\u00e4\u00dfig ausgedehnte Autofahrten zu den Proben abverlangte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nachdem die Besetzung nun feststand, nannte sich die Band \u201eThe Bee-Ciders<\/strong>\", was ihre Vorliebe f\u00fcr B-Seiten zum Ausdruck bringen sollte. Hitmaterial, das man \u00fcblicherweise von einer Cover-Band erwarten w\u00fcrde, findet sich in der Setlist eher selten. Stattdessen r\u00fccken die Bee-Ciders<\/em> die versteckten Edelsteine, die vergessenen Juwelen und die Rohdiamanten, die andere nicht wagen w\u00fcrden, ans Tageslicht zu f\u00f6rdern ins Rampenlicht. Und selbst wenn prominente Interpreten auf der Liste stehen, vermag die Wahl der Titel mitunter zu \u00fcberraschen.

Mit jahrzehntelanger B\u00fchnen- und Studioerfahrung (was bemerkenswert ist f\u00fcr eine Frau, die unm\u00f6glich \u00e4lter sein kann als 25), ohne Angst vor gro\u00dfen Namen und mit der Bereitschaft, jede Herausforderung anzunehmen, ist Sandra unbestritten die Kapit\u00e4nin der Band bei Regen und bei Sonnenschein \u2013 oder in diesem Fall: Die Bienenk\u00f6nigin. Zus\u00e4tzlich zu ihrer umwerfenden stimmlichen Pr\u00e4senz, und ihrer vielf\u00e4ltigen Instrumentalbegleitung, f\u00fchrt sie sowohl Musiker als auch Publikum mit charmanten und humorvollen Erz\u00e4hlungen durch die mitunter intensiven und fordernden Liveshows. Wenn sie die B\u00fchne betritt, um vorzutragen was sie zuvor in unz\u00e4hligen Proben mit chirurgischer Pr\u00e4zision erarbeitet hat, erh\u00e4lt sie die ungeteilte Aufmerksamkeit der Menge.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Der Arbeitstitel des Projekts \u201eThe Bee-Ciders\u201c lautete zun\u00e4chst aus gutem Grund \u201ePiotr & The Combo\u201c, spielt Peter doch als Leads\u00e4nger und Keyboarder bzw. Pianist eine enorm wichtige Doppelrolle in der Band. Sein warmes Timbre erg\u00e4nzt die weiblichen Stimmen und er komplettiert spielerisch jedes Duett, egal in welcher Sprache. Obwohl er stets dazu neigt, sein Licht unter den Scheffel zu stellen, bildet Peters\u00a0 Keyboardspiel die Leinwand und das virtuose Pianospiel die Zwischent\u00f6ne, die die Saiteninstrumente nicht zu liefern verm\u00f6gen, um die volle Bandbreite der Bee-Cider\u2019schen Klanglandschaften zu erzeugen.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Dank ihrer klassischen Ausbildung am Instrument bringt Verena die einzigartige F\u00e4higkeit ein, Musik zu lesen und korrekt zu transkribieren. Dies ist enorm hilfreich, wenn es gilt, Orchesterparts f\u00fcr die Geige oder im Duett mit k\u00fcnstlichen Streichern vom Keyboard zu arrangieren. Zus\u00e4tzlich zum Geigenspiel, das eine gro\u00dfe Bereicherung in der Gesamtdarbietung der Bee-Ciders darstellt, sorgt sie auch stimmlich f\u00fcr ein vollst\u00e4ndiges Bild, da sie - Dank ihres unglaublichen Stimmumfangs von Sopran bis Kontra Alt - alle L\u00fccken f\u00fcllen kann. Im Gegensatz zur Rhythmussektion ist Verena eher dem Wei\u00dfwein als dem Gerstenbr\u00e4u zugetan.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Andi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

W\u00fcrzt jede Bee-Ciders Show mit seiner energiegeladenen Live-Performance und l\u00e4sst mitunter Zweifel aufkommen, ob der Bass mit einer solchen B\u00fchnenshow nicht etwa vom Band kommt \u2013 was er nat\u00fcrlich nicht tut! Der geborene K\u00e4rntner liebt die B\u00fchne und erobert sie mit einem charmanten L\u00e4cheln, dem sich niemand entziehen kann. Immer bereit zu neuen Ufern aufzubrechen, erweitert er stetig sein Repertoire an Stilen und Techniken und experimentiert unentwegt mit neuem Equipment \u2013 stets auf Jagd nach dem perfekten Basssound, um das Fundament f\u00fcr das Gesamtkunstwerk der Bienchen zu legen. In seiner neuen Rolle als Vater durfte Andi nun auch vom erfahrenen Flieger zum Herrn der Windeln aufsteigen.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Ein begnadeter Schlagzeuger, dem es perfekt gelingt, sein fotographisches Ged\u00e4chtnis f\u00fcr Beats, Melodien und Texte in seine rhythmische und gesangliche Darbietung einzuweben. Ausgehend von einem Grunge und Metal Hintergrund hat er \u00fcber die Jahre einen feinsinnigen und weitreichenden Schlagzeugstil entwickelt, nicht zuletzt durch den Willen, von den Besten seiner Zunft, wie Gavin Harrison oder Mike Portnoy zu lernen. Wenn die Schlagzeugst\u00f6cke schweigen, spricht sein gro\u00dfes Herz, das er in jedes seiner musikalischen Projekte legt. Das macht ihn zweifellos zum emotionalen R\u00fcckgrat der Bee-Ciders. Ehrenamtlich \u00fcbernimmt Eddie auch noch das Amt des CBO (Corporate Beer Officer) in der Band.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mit den Versuchen, die Setliste in alle m\u00f6glichen (und unm\u00f6glichen) Richtungen zu erweitern und immer auf der Suche nach dem n\u00e4chsten v\u00f6llig verr\u00fcckten Song, mit dem niemand rechnet, aber den jeder lieben wird, gepaart mit einem leicht verr\u00fcckten Hang zur Pedanterie, gelingt es Nype regelm\u00e4\u00dfig, seine Bandkollegen zum Wahnsinn zu treiben. Auch wenn die H\u00fcrden f\u00fcr den Versuch, seine Idole Morse, Bettencourt, Satriani oder Petrucci auch nur im Ansatz zu imitieren un\u00fcberwindbar erscheinen, gibt er sich redlich M\u00fche. Obwohl die linke Seite der B\u00fchne auffallend gut mit \u00c4xten aller Farben und Arten best\u00fcckt ist, l\u00e4sst sich eine Pr\u00e4ferenz f\u00fcr durch ENGL Verst\u00e4rker h\u00f6rbar gemachte MusicMan Gitarren nicht \u00fcbersehen. Dass er trotzdem nicht wie Steve Morse klingt, kann vermutlich nur am Kabel liegen...<\/p>\n<\/div>

The Bee-Ciders<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in the late 1990s Peter <\/strong>and Nype <\/strong>already played together in a band called \"The Styrian Beerwolves<\/strong>\", named after the favourite beverage of most band members at that time and possibly the howling sound of the drummer's backing vocals. Though focusing mostly on Country and Blues material, some of the titles by Gary Moore<\/em> and Deep Purple<\/em> in today's Bee-Ciders' catalogue were already found in the Beerwolves' setlist, building the foundation of what should become the bees' treasure chest of songs decades later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the split of the legendary wolfpack in 1999 and a two years break another influencal project was born. Nype and Eddie first met in 2001 in a group initially called \"OhrWerk<\/strong>\" and later renamed to \"push'n'funk<\/strong>\". Writing original songs with german\/styrian lyrics through all musical genres from Rock and Folk to Reggae and Funk with a slight touch of progressive elements, push'n'funk aimed to follow in the footsteps of legendary Austro-Pop giants Ausseer Hardbradler<\/em>, yet failed to finally reach their targets due to many line-up changes. Interestingly enough, in 2011 a young female singer named Sandra Danzer <\/strong>came to audition for the lead vocals, but refused to sign the contract due to a parental leave from the stage. The push'n'funk<\/em> project came to an end in 2021 \u2013 at least for the time being, leaving the fans desperately waiting for their third album release which was announced already in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was in 2020 when Peter <\/strong>and Nype <\/strong>decided to join forces again. Relying on long lasting partnerships, Eddie <\/strong>was the natural choice on the drums. Shortly after a first setup-phase it was the moment when Sandra <\/strong>despite her engagement in various other projects took her spot center stage, opening the door to a whole universe of options thanks to her incredible singing skills. The search for a bass player turned out to be difficult but finally ended with the highly experienced rock and metal bassist Andi Pongratz<\/strong> finding his way to the hive and contributing more than only the long missed low-end. What started as a jam session finally completed the puzzle when Upper Austrian violinist and singer Verena Schwarz<\/strong> decided to be a full member of the then six-piece band, willing to accept extended car rides to join the rehearsals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the determination of the line-up the band named themselves \"The Bee-Ciders<\/strong>\" which mainly expresses the tendency to avoid the first go-to No. 1 hits you would expect from a cover band but instead try to spotlight the hidden gems, the forgotten jewels and the diamonds others wouldn't dare to unearth. And even if you find prominent names on the setlist you might sometimes be surprised by the choice of the songs. So make sure you don't miss a single show, you might lose the chance to hear what used to be your favorite song in Kindergarten and hasn't been played live ever since!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sandra<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With decades of experience in making music - which is astonishing for a woman impossibly older than 25 \u2013 no fear of big names and an open attitude to accept any challenge, Sandra is the undisputed captain of the band through sunshine and stormy weather - or in this particular case: the queen bee.Bee-cides<\/em> her stunning vocal performance alongside instrumental accompaniment she guides the musicians and the crowd through the sometimes intense and demanding shows with her pleasant and humorous narrations. Whenever she enters the stage to deliver what she precisely elaborated in numerous rehearsals before, the audience is listening.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Peter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When still in a conceptual stage the band was called \"Piotr & The Combo\" for a reason, as Peter performs in two major roles in the band. Mastering the challenge of being lead vocalist and keyboard \/ piano player at the same time cannot be valued highly enough. His warm and colorful timbre complements the female vocals and perfectly completes duets in any language spoken in the western hemisphere. And while tending to understate his own skills, Peter's keyboard playing sets the canvas and contributes all the flavors not covered by the string instruments to finally build the full spectrum of the bees' sonic landscapes.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Verena<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having mastered her instrument through a classical education, Verena contributes the ability to read and correctly transcribe music, which is a rare asset in the band and turned out to be extremely helpful when it comes to arranging orchestral parts for a single violin or string voices on the keys. On top of the violin playing, which is a tremendous enrichment to the overall performance of the bees, she is also a very experienced singer filling all the gaps with her incredible vocal range from soprano to contralto. As opposed to the rhythm section Verena enjoys a good glass of white wine instead of amber fluid.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Andi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spices up any bee show with his energetic live performances, sometimes leaving people in doubt whether his bass parts were really being played live \u2013 which they are of course! Originating from Carinthia he naturally loves the stage and conquers it with a smile you cannot resist. His good vibes would be able to even bring the \"fun\" back in a \"funeral\". Always willing to set sails to new shores and constantly extending his repertoire of genres and techniques, he keeps experimenting with gear and sounds chasing the perfect bass tone to lay the foundation of the bees' artwork. Becoming a dad was a true game changer for Andi, upgrading from an expert in aviation to a Bachelor of Diapers.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Eddie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An incredibly gifted drummer benefiting from his photographical memory of beats, melodies and lyrics which he is able to weave into his rhythmic and vocal performance. Whilst originating from a grunge and metal background he developed a very exquisite style over the years influenced by and open to all genres always trying to learn from to the best of his craft, like Gavin Harrison and Mike Portnoy to name only a few. When the drum sticks are put aside, dedicating his heart and soul to any musical project he'd be part of, he sure is the emotional backbone of the band. In his spare time he also holds the position of the band's Corporate Beer Officer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nype<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trying to push the setlist forward in all directions, reaching out to the next crazy idea of a song to add and being a stickler for details with a touch of insanity Nype sometimes has the potential to drive his bandmates mad \u2013 which he understands as the natural obligation of a lead guitar player in any band. Being self-taught, he tries to make up for technical shortcomings though being far from the level needed to even try to mimic his idols like Steve Morse, Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci and the like. Although the left side of the stage is packed with various axes a clear preference for MusicMan guitars driving ENGL amps is undeniable.<\/p>\n<\/div>
